Travel and Accommodation

1. Do you have hotel recommendations?
Yes! Please navigate your way to the "accommodation" pages at the different towns. 

2. How do I book my accommodation?
Please make use of a secure booking platform or book directly with the hotels & guest houses.

3. What airport should I fly into?
The closest airport is Cape Town International, located approximately 30 minutes from Cape Town, 40 minutes from Stellenbosch and 60 minutes from Franschhoek.

4. Will transportation be provided?
Yes, we will schedule shuttles for certain activities & events during our wedding weekend, but for any other transportation enquiries, please refer to our "transportation" page.

5. Should I rent a car?
It’s optional, but if you wish to explore the Cape Winelands & Surrounds, it might be a good idea to rent a car, for further information on this topic, please refer to our "transportation" page.

Wedding Weekend Details

6. What is the dress code?
The dress code for each event is on the event's pages. Please adhere to these dress codes.

7. What is the weather like at this time of year?
It's officially summer in South Africa, get ready for warm and sunny days, but always add a thin layer as the evenings can cool down a bit or you might get a windy cool down late afternoons.

8. Will there be other events besides the wedding?
Yes, we’re planning a friendly padel game followed by a rehearsal dinner and post-wedding brunch. 

9. Can I bring my kids?

When traveling with infants and toddlers, please be advised that they are warmly welcomed to attend the Padel Tournament at Zorgvliet Wine Estate and the Brunch at Tokara Deli. However, for the convenience of all guests, we kindly request that the Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding Day remain child-free events. We will provide you with nanny-services that can be booked in advance.

Gifts and Registry

For us, the greatest gift would be for you to attend our three-day wedding, and therefore, we do not want to ask you to bring any gifts to South Africa. 

Safety Tips

11.Is South Africa Safe for tourists?

While most areas are safe, follow these tips:

-Avoid isolated areas, especially at night.

-Use reputable transportation services.

-Keep valuables out of sight and use your hotel safe for important items like passports.

12.Can I drink the tap water?

Tap water is generally safe to drink in the Western Cape. However, bottled water is readily available, we would suggest to rather make use of bottled water for a safer experience.

Money Matters

13. What currency is used in South Africa?

The South African Rand (ZAR). We do recommend making use of Revolut for an easy travel experience.

14. Are credit cards widely accepted?

Yes, most establishments accept credit and debit cards, but it’s a good idea to carry some cash for small vendors and markets. Please note, most restaurants & coffee shops are cashless.

15. How much should I tip?

Standard tipping practices include:

Restaurants: 10-15% of the bill.

Porters: ZAR 10–20 per bag.

Taxi drivers: Rounding up the fare.

17. How about Social Media?
We would be immensely grateful if you would honor us with your presence at our wedding, which will be attended by an intimate gathering of close friends and family. Hence, we kindly request that you refrain from taking any pictures, as we have implemented a no-phone policy during the wedding. Professional photographers will capture moments throughout the wedding weekend, and all photographs will be made available to you.

Please note we will upload a photo & video gallery of our days after the wedding.

18. Where else can we travel to?

If you wish to extend your trip to explore more of South Africa, we can recommend the following destinations:

- Closer to Cape Town: Hermanus

- We can also recommend extending your trip to explore the Garden Route. A quick flight from Cape Town International to George, and then renting a car. Exploring George, Wilderness, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley.

- If you wish to explore up North, we can recommend a beautiful stay in and around the Kruger National Park.

20. Apps to make life easier?​​

-We recommend making use of the Dineplan App to book your lunch & dinner reservations in advance.

-They will also provide you with more dining ideas & options.

-Please note most restaurants require a deposit per person to secure your reservation. This can safely be done on the Dineplan app.

-Google Maps is the best navigation app, please be mindful about the routes they provide you.
